What is Milk the Funk?

Milk the Funk is an intermediate to advanced group of Home/Commercial Brewers. We brew with bacterium and alternative yeast cultures and strive to share information making our alternative brewing experiences more successful.

Milk the Funk prides its self on being an intermediate to advanced group. There are thousands of groups and resources dealing with the basics of brewing. We are not a Homebrew 101 group. We would like to keep this group as advanced as possible. Tips on things like yeast starters, basic wort production, and “Does this look infected?” should stick to other places. Try reddit.com/r/homebrewing or Home Brew Talk. Please take your time to familiarize yourself with the topic of bacteria and alternative yeast beer. Please check out “Wild Brews: Culture and Craftsmanship in the Belgian Tradition” by Jeff Sparrow, “Brewing Sour Beers at Home Using Traditional & Alternative Methods” PDF by Vinnie Cilurzo and Chad Y’s http://www.brettanomycesproject.com/. We are currently working on a beginners guide, and hopefully we will have it posted soon.

If you are posting pictures of your beer, please INCLUDE RELEVANT INFO. This can include, starting and finishing gravity, grain bill, hop amounts and schedule, measured pH, time and temp of the ferment, etc. Users that do not include relevant info may have post deleted. If they continue to not provide info we will seek additional measures. If you have many photo's to share at once please combine into an album or keep in one thread.

Keep things civil and honorable. Not everyone here is agreeable. We have different brewing backgrounds and different brewing skill levels. Treat others as you would like to be treated, but the admins will not force everyone to get along. If you have a problem with another user we expect you to take the intuitive to block that person. Abusive, violent, or threatening post will not be tolerated. Any such post will be subject to review, and may constitute a ban. The severity of the post will determine the length of the ban.
